The quest for humane pet services
In B.C., services like dog daycare, walking, pet grooming and boarding are not regulated. The lack of standards affects animal welfare and can result in behavioural and physical harm to pets. The reality is that finding reliable pet services should not be reliant on trial and error.
To help guardians make informed decisions, the BC SPCA created evidence-based standards for companion animal services. The quest for humane pet services is the topic of a recent article in the Summer 2023 edition of West Coast Veterinarian magazine, written by Nicole Fenwick, M.Sc., manager, research & standards at the BC SPCA.
